The final report of this year’s edition of the Green.Building.Solutions. (GBS) Summer University is now available!
In July, we welcomed 64 students and professionals from 34 nations to Vienna for three weeks of interdisciplinary learning and exchange. Coming from diverse backgrounds, including architecture, building technology, engineering and urban studies, participants explored innovative approaches to a more sustainable built environment.
Through lectures, workshops and excursions, participants deepened their knowledge of climate-proof design, energy-efficient buildings, renewable energies, passive house planning, ecological construction and circular economy. The programme combined theoretical knowledge with practical applications, including digital tools for building performance and environmental assessment, material flows and nature-based solutions.
A key highlight was the interdisciplinary group design project at Vienna’s Fassfabrik site in the 23rd district, where participants developed ten proposals for sustainable and climate-friendly transformation. The projects brought together the knowledge gained throughout the programme and were presented on the final day at TUtheSky.
Further highlights included the joint opening event with the summer university Alternative Economic and Monetary Systems, excursions exploring sustainable architecture and urban development across Vienna, social and cultural activities, and the closing ceremony.
