Application process

Please apply through our online application form - you will be asked to register for the website first. Please enter your name and mail-address and choose a password.


For a successful procedure you are required to complete all fields in the form and to upload the following information:

  • A motivational statement
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Photo of yourself
  • A scan or photo of the picture page of your passport
  • Grade transcript of home university

We recommend preparing the documents before starting the application.

Criteria and steps

Apart from the necessity of being a registered student, a recent university graduate or a professional in the field of architecture, planning or engineering, no knock-out criteria will be applied. The following key elements will be considered:

1. Motivation and commitment for participation
2. Knowledge of the English language
3. Academic standing / work experience
4. International experience

As we are aiming at a heterogeneous group of people from a variety of backgrounds, we highly encourage students from all fields of studies and majors to apply. We seek to provide equal opportunities to our applicants.

Nomination as participant

After having received your online application, we start the screening process of your documents. In case we are missing essential information or need additional data, we will get in touch with you.

We will inform you as soon as possible about the status of your nomination!

Please note: The nomination confirmation is sent via email, so please double check the spelling of your email address when submitting your application and regularly check your spam folders.

After your nomination

After you’ve been accepted to the GBS Summer University, please send us an e-mail saying that you accept our nomination offer and return a scanned and signed copy of our Waiver of Liability. There is a deadline of one week to confirm our nomination.

The next step is to pay the tuition fee within a given time after your nomination. You’ll be asked to send a confirmation of your transaction.

BOKU pre-registration

Right after, we kindly ask you to pre-register at our partner, the BOKU University. This is needed for receiving the BOKU certificate. You will again be asked to upload some personal information and a passport photo. Take a look at the manual before starting the registration at BOKU. Please also send us a confirmation of your registration at BOKU.

Final steps

After receiving your payment and your pre-registration at BOKU, you’ll be fixed as a participant, and we send to you a confirmation letter. From now on, it’s time to lean back as we’ll take care of your registration. We prepare everything for you to have a great time in Vienna!
